 SOLAR ENERGY MYTHS

You'll never pay another power bill again!

Despite what a solar company may claim, as long as your home is connected to a power grid you will continue to have a monthly power bill.

When there is a power outage, your home will still have power!

As long as your home is connected to the power grid, your power will go out just like everyone else's even if you have solar panels and it is a bright sunshiny day.

The excess power my solar panels make during the day, is given back during the night-time hours.

SESD customers receive a monetary credit of $.051/kWh for excess power generated during daylight hours.  SESD customers pay regular SESD Rates for power they receive from SESD.

Solar Panels are "green" energy and will reduce my carbon footprint.
